About cat meow sound effects
A meow usually rises in pitch, holds a vowel and then falls. American English spells it meow, British English miaow. Adult cats rarely meow at each other. They mostly meow at people, while kittens mew constantly to get their mother's attention. A kitten's mew is thin and high, almost a squeak, and it turns quieter and more fragile when the kitten is far away or behind a door. At the other end of the range is the yowl, a long, hoarse, wavering cry from an adult tom, often heard at night when males compete. Purring, hissing and growling come from the same animal but are not part of this set.

Which one to pick
Kittens up close
Kitten Cry is the brightest and most direct, and Soft Mew is gentler. Either fits a cute reveal, a pet adoption clip or a sleepy close-up.
From another room
Muffled Mew is faint and dry, like a kitten behind a closed door, an off-screen hint that there is a cat in the house.
Adult tom
Tomcat Yowl is the only grown-up voice here, a long hoarse cry that climbs and falls away. Use it for alley cats, night scenes or comic tension.
Game style
Chiptune Meow is a pitch-bent square wave, the one to choose for pixel art games and playful interface sounds.
