Quick answers
Can I use these sounds commercially?
Yes. You can use these sounds in work that earns money, including ads, monetized videos, paid apps and games, and client projects.
Do I need to credit you?
Credit isn't required, but a line such as "Sound effects: www.casper.tw/sound-effects" in your credits or description box is appreciated and helps other people find the library.
Do I need to tell you when I use a sound?
No. You don't need to report where you use a sound or ask before each use. If you'd like to show us what you made, we're always glad to hear about it.
Can I use these sounds to train an AI model?
No. Please don't use these sounds, on their own or as part of a dataset, to train or fine-tune a generative AI model. The license we generate them under doesn't allow it, so we can't pass that right on to you.
What we say, and what we don't
On every page we use the same sentence: you're free to use these sounds. It tells you that you may use them and links to this page for the details. The sounds were generated with Stable Audio, a sound effects model from Stability AI. Stability AI's Community License leaves ownership of what we generate with the model with us, as far as the law allows, and that is what lets us offer the sounds to you.
People often search for copyright-free, no copyright or public domain sound effects. We don't describe our sounds with those words. Whether sounds generated with AI can be protected by copyright is still unsettled and differs between countries, so a label like that would promise more than anyone can guarantee. We don't call them royalty-free either: it's a licensing term that means different things in different places, so it's easy to misread.
Common situations
YouTube and social videos
Use the sounds in your edits, from a single whoosh on a cut to a bed of room tone under your voice. Download the MP3, drop it on your timeline and set its level under the dialogue. Please don't register these sounds with Content ID or a similar system: other creators use the same files, and a claim on their videos would be unfair to them.
Games and apps
Use the sounds inside your game or app, for actions, interface feedback and ambience. Please don't repackage them as a sound pack or a library of your own. Selling your game or app is fine.
Classroom and teaching
Teachers and students can play the sounds in class, add them to slides and school projects, and share them within a course. Every sound also plays straight from its page, so you can open the page on the classroom screen and press play.
Commercial ads and client work
Ads, sponsored posts and work you deliver to a client are all fine. It helps to keep a list of the sounds you used, in case a client asks where they came from.
The Stability AI Community License
We generate these sounds with a Stability AI model, and its license asks us to show the notice below. It stays in English, exactly as written, and it also appears at the bottom of every page.
