About horse sound effects
A neigh, also called a whinny, is the loud call most people know. It starts high, shakes and slides down, and it carries a long way across a field. Horses tend to use it when they are separated from companions or see one come back. The nicker is the opposite: a soft, low, fluttering sound made with the mouth closed, often heard when a horse greets someone it knows or a mare calls her foal. Size and age change the voice. A foal's call is thin and high, a pony's is clear and a little throaty, and a stallion or a heavy draft horse sounds deeper and fuller. Hoofbeats are a separate sound and are not covered here, apart from one 8-bit trot made for games.

Which one to pick
Big calls
High Shrill Neigh and Horse Whinny are the classic loud, shaking call. Stallion Call is the deepest and most powerful, the one for a dramatic entrance.
Young and small
Foal Call is thin and high, and Pony Neigh is clear with a throaty edge. Both read as friendly rather than wild.
Soft nickers
Mare Nicker and Draft Horse are low and warm, closer to a hum than a call. Use them for quiet stable scenes, feeding time or a close-up with a rider.
Game sound
Pixel Trot is an 8-bit hoofbeat pattern and the shortest file here, built for retro games and interface sounds.
