About doorbell sound effects

A doorbell is a short, bright signal: one or two struck tones that ring and then fade on their own. The familiar ding-dong comes from a chime box in which a small plunger hits one tone bar when the button is pressed and a lower bar when it springs back, so the second note is the lower one. The verbs are simple: the doorbell rings, chimes or buzzes, and whoever is outside rings the bell. Older homes and shops may have a single bell or a buzzer, while wireless and video doorbells play synthesized chimes through a small speaker. Doorbell Two Tone follows that classic two-note pattern, Four Note Chime stretches it into a short phrase, and the single strikes trade melody for one clear tone of brass, glass, wood or bronze.

Chimes

Doorbell Two Tone is the one most people picture for a house. Four Note Chime suits a bigger home, a hotel lobby or a scene where the guest is expected.

Single strikes

Brass Ding and Glass Ting are bright and quick, so they cut through without covering dialogue. Soft Wood Bell is the gentlest of the set, and Deep Gong is low and slow, which can read as a grand old house or a slightly ominous visitor.

Stylized

Digital Ping and Retro Ding are synthesized. They belong in games, apps and animation, where a realistic chime would feel out of place.
