About air horn sound effects

An air horn is loud, brassy and blunt. Compressed air forces a diaphragm or reed to vibrate at the narrow end of a flared trumpet, which gives a harsh, buzzing tone with a hard start. Handheld canned horns turn up at games and on boats as signals, and bigger ones are mounted on trucks and trains. People talk about blasting an air horn, and the horn itself blares or honks. The space around it matters as much as the horn: the same blast is tight and punchy in a gymnasium, broad over an open field and ringing inside a concrete bowl. Most of this set is built on that idea, with each stadium horn shaped by a different venue.

Which one to pick

Classic blasts

Single Blast is the straight, full-force horn. Descending Pitch slides downward like a horn running out of air, a natural cue for a fail or a joke. Synth Air Horn is the only electronic one, a bright, harsh imitation suited to games and fast edits.

Indoor venues

Gymnasium Horn and Small Court Horn are tight and dry, Ice Rink Horn and Dome Air Horn add a glassy top, and Arena Horn Swell has the most edge.

Outdoor and big venues

Field Air Horn, Kickoff Horn, Track Horn Swell and Ballpark Horn spread across open turf, while Concrete Stadium Horn, Floodlit Stadium Horn and Bleacher Horn carry the scale of a packed ground. These build in and fade out, so they sit better under a highlight montage than as a sudden hit.
